Dear Justice Stephen Breyer,
Your idiocy stands alone in a sea of many other liberal idiots. Today I was reading my MSN top stories, and a story on your new book popped onto my screen. Imagine my immense surprise at your thoughts on the Supreme Court's job description. Even I, as a lowly college drop-out, took American Government when I was in school (BTW-Im a political science major), and we studied something that we in the United States call the "Constitution". You obviously have not looked over this document in a few millenia, since in the "constitution" it tells you what the Supreme Court, as the Judicial Branch of the government, should and should not do. Nowhere in the document does it say that the Supreme Court shall have the power to decide POLICY. That is what the LEGISLATIVE BRANCH is for. In fact, I believe that the SC's powers are LIMITED to deciding whether the laws made by the Legislative Branch are IN FACT - (wait for it)- CONSTITUTIONAL.
I urge you to read over your quote again, Justice Breyer, and so I am including it in this letter, "It's a Constitution that protects a democratic system, basic liberties, a rule of law, a degree of equality, a division of powers, state, federal, so that no one gets too powerful". Hmm, so that no one gets too powerful. So, you don't think that the Supreme Court deciding that since no one is doing anything about x, it is your job to fix it? Justice Breyer, if you have that much of an issue worrying about things that aren't in the Constitution, perhaps you should resign your lifetime post as Justice, and run for Congress. Or, perhaps, urge for support of a NEW constitution, since those dodgy fore-fathers got it all wrong.
Now, I'm not in total disagreement that the situation that some of the text in the constitution should be amended. This is true. When written over 200 years ago, the fore-fathers did not have the guidance to see what technology and society would bring down the line. However, this is not for you and the other 8 cronies on the bench to arbitrarily decide based on "your" gut feelings. It is for the PEOPLE of America to wake up and push for a change. Amazingly, that was the intent of the fore-fathers, for us to change it as time went on. See, I think that is the beauty of what they wrote. They had the sense to know that life would change in America as years turned into decades, which turned into centuries, and made allowances that if the Constitution as they wrote it no longer benefitted society, and charged Americans with changing it to suit the times.

Welcome Back!
Well- I'm really welcoming myself back. I have had so many topics that I have wanted to post on, but haven't had the time. Anyway, thanks for checking in, and I hope that I can be a little more punctual on postings!

The Big D
Hi all- I was just in a fun mood, and wanted to post about my sister- also known as "D". My sister and I used to have nothing in common. She is skinnier than a wire hanger, I'm best known as having a little extra junk in my trunk (not too much, but compared to her? im a fatty). She is a sportsaholic- playing soccer now for Div I school Western Illinois University (go Westerwinds!) and I am more comfortable sitting my (slightly larger) ass on the couch. For a long time I was quite jealous of her (she was born when I was 7, an only child at the time) and still am of some things. Mainly because she is only 18 and has her whole life ahead of her- and those damn legs. Anyway, we call her D because for some reason in our family the name Daniel/Danielle is incredibly popular, and there is a "big" Danny(Daniel S.) , my sister Danie(Danielle G.) , and a "little" Dan (Daniel M.). The D mainly goes for which of the Dan's are around at what time.
Anyway, I was talking to her last night, (all the way in Illinois at college, by herself, playing soccer...) and just thought of how proud I am of her, and how much fun the next 4 years are going to be for her. Everytime I talk to her, there are a million people laughing in the background, so I know she has made some friends and probably is having fun... So I am super happy for her. Anyway- just for big sis revenge though- I hope some of her friends are as nasty as her- because her feet stink like a rotting garbage can, and when she farts, she can take the paint off of cars. : ) OK- thats it... really happy- but also having to make fun~ Talk to everyone later.

Nobody's Gonna Break My Style
It has been a couple of days (weeks really, but I am super boring) so here is an update!
I have been super emotional this week- for those of you who know me, you know what a big shock this is. I'm serious- I thought I had lost all "girl crying" genes in some freak accident at birth. It takes a lot to get me to be emotional- but lord, when it comes- it's like a flood. Anyhow- so- life has just completely caught me by surprise, and I haven't gone a day yet this week without crying for some reason or another.
Anyhow- so I went to look at a rental home today in Bridlebrook Farms, which is on the outskirts of Montgomery. And by outskirts, I mean way the hell out there. So- in consideration of the fact I had no IDEA just how far out, I alloted myself 15 minutes to get there to meet the realtor. I was late. Just by like 10 minutes, but still late. Instead of a cajoling "Did you get lost?" by said realtor- we'll call her the BBWSA for Black Bit*& With Serious Attitude, I get a "we'll have to see if the tenant is still willing to show the house since you are late". Then she goes up to the door and bangs on it. After letting the tenant know- and I can hear how she tells her that I'm late and its my fault- the tenant agrees to have the house shown at that time. Now- BBWSA has still not given me her name, has not shaken my hand, has not in one ounce satisfied me with any sort of customer service still at this time. We go into the house, she hurries me along, names only the bedrooms, doesnt offer any sort of information on said house without (by the way- these tenants let their disgusting cat piss all over everything, enough to ruin the carpet which was torn up and BBWSA still had no explanation or timeline to replace when finally asked about it) and in summation- was horribly smelly and not where I would for one second want to live. Then, as we are walking out of the house, the BBWSA asked me about the second house I had scheduled to look at today. I straight up looked at her and told her that I wasn't going anywhere else with her showing me anything. Then, I called Aronov Home Rentals, and soundly blessed them out for her incomprehensible rudeness. I hope she gets fired. There is absolutely no reason to act the way she did, and it reflects poorly on Aronov the fact that she is out showing homes. Hello- you stupid bitch- you are going to make a commission on the rental of this home- you need to be nice to the sweet lady that comes to look at it... Dumbass.
In other news- War MFing Eagle! And- yes- Notre Dame? I am very disappointed. At least Auburn came through, but some horrible play calling in the last AU possession! When running Kenny Irons doesn't work for the first half, and then barely works in the second- the LAST thing to do on the most important possession of the game is to RUN KENNY UP THE FREAKING MIDDLE THREE TIMES. Should have passed to get the first down, and then knelt for the last minute and a half. You don't give LSU the ball with 2:15 left on the clock and think for one second they aren't going to score. Okay- last I will say about football. Okay I lied- Brady Quinn- my gorgeous- what have you done?
Alabama weather- I keep reading blogs about folks in other areas of the country, that are starting to feel the full effects of fall. My mom was telling me the other day that it was cold and they cut the heat on. And then I go outside and it is still 100 degrees. It's true what they say, Alabama has four seasons- Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer, and Winter. Bummer- I have some really cute fall clothes that I want to wear, but would be sweltering.
Congratulations to the Montgomery Biscuits- DBF (dear boyfriend for those not "in the know") and I went to see the championship winning game last Friday. Was really cool except for the strange woman who HAD to stand up every hit, although we were directly behind home plate and could see everything sitting down. DBF and I will be in DT's until next season.
TV- so House is better with every episode- I truly am addicted. TiVo is on standby on Tuesday nights, but I'm usually right there in front so it is wasted. Also- new shows I like- Til Death, Standoff(right after House and with that gorgeous Ron Livingston), Vanished, Justice. Still refuse to watch Grey's Anatomy- sounds too much like a daytime soap, and I missed Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip last night... Anyone see it? Was it good?
Is anyone else just amazed with the way iPod or some variation has seeped into the vernacular? My boss- god love him- is mid-60's and made a comment about a podcast today. He doesn't even know how to look up a contact in Outlook, but wanted to see if he could watch a podcast on my computer. Apple certainly has cornered the market, but I'm sure everyone will be sick of the whole "pod-revolution" at some point. Right?
Okay- I have come up with enough things today, I think... Maybe I will post again in a couple of days... BTW- Glad to see that Sherri is still alive- Whoopee! And my "blog to read" for this week is DadGoneMad

Best Birthday Ever
So I am now officially a quarter-century old, and boy do I feel it. Boyfriend and I went to Panama City Beach, FL, for small vacation this past weekend, and had a great time. I know that many people, if you know anything about PCB, would automatically assume that it is trashy, but kudos to the Chamber of Commerce and all the rebuilding that is going on down there. It was like looking at an entirely new city. When we used to go down for "senior week" and "spring break" it was so nasty and unclean, but they have really turned it around! I recommend to anyone that it is nice and clean (caveat: lots lots lots of new construction) but is starting to get a little pricey!
Anyhow- rundown on gifts: Mom and Dad- coffee table and end table that I have been wanting; Aunt and Uncle: money money money~!; boss: money as well; other father: dvd's of tv shows I watched at 5 years of age. He thought it immensely funny. I did not. I am trying to move into a new home, have asked for all furniture needs before leaving, and yet, he gets me She-Ra and Rainbow Brite DVDs. Ridiculous. I am a grownup for Christ's sake, and he chooses to continue to treat me like a little child. Aggravating to say the least.
Sister is tucked away safely at college- and homesick already. Read article the other day about how cell phones are increasing the time that young adults stay homesick while at college, because they can "call home" anytime they feel like it. Oh well- I think she will be okay. Go Westerwinds.
Boyfriend is awesome, by the way, best best best birthday was solely because of him. Totally let me choose the schedule, and didnt get mad at me more than once or twice (and I think only mildly annoyed). Keeps commenting about snoring though- very embarrassing!
Well, everyone, that was my quick update- I'm still off (took Monday off to relax from vaca!) So I will definitely talk to everyone soon!

My Perfect Description
This may have just been a fun little game I played, but it most accurately describes me:
SAMantic is one of the wisest, smartest, best looking people on the planet. Or so at least she would like to think. It's not that she is vain - more that she is terribly susceptible to flattery. All Leos suffer from this little weakness. That's because, despite what astrologers are always saying about Leos and their confidence, secretly, deep down, they are a little unsure of themselves. This explains SAMantic's tendency to be strongly outspoken and extrovert one moment and quietly anxious the next.
Her close friends know all about her tendency towards self doubt. They know what a warm, genuine and generous character she can be, but they also know about her natural sensitivity. SAMantic's acquaintances, however, have no such insight. They feel sure that in her, they are dealing with a dynamic, energetic and decisive person who is it would be most unwise to cross.
She is fiery and feisty - she gives the impression of being someone who knows it all. As a matter of fact, whilst she does not know it 'all', she does know quite a lot of it. She is well read, well researched and always well presented. she cuts a dash, she has 'presence.' Heads turn when she enters the room. She is aware of the impression she makes but not entirely comfortable with it. She knows that people are responding to her big pretence, not her true personality. That's why she so deeply treasures the company of loved ones who are strong enough to see through her façade and respect her for the mere mortal that she actually is.

Rental prices should not cost twice as much as a house payment
Montgomery, Alabama homeowners: Please stop acting like your 2 bedroom garden homes are 10 bedroom mansions. 1925/month? Not bloody likely. I want to live in a nice neighborhood, convenient to a grocery store, but off a main artery, and all that is open are people asking these ginormus amount. It is a rental house! I know that we are lucky in having officers from the Air Force rent from here, but local folks who can't quite settle a house payment in addition to their student loans need some nice places too! And, Millbrook and Prattville- have y'all gone nuts? Your houses are in the country- granted, they are growing, but give me a break. If I see one more 4 br 2.5 bath in Millbrook/Deatsville area for 1595 a month I am going to scream. This is price gouging for homes- and forget that to live out there you still need 5-6oo bucks a month for gas to get to the city. Please- wise up and start pricing a little lower so that good people (namely me) can get a cute little 2 br. for under a grand!!!

Happiness
For all of my ranting and raving to friends about what I want in a man, I think I'm actually pretty easy to please. Little things- a phone call, a kiss on the cheek, a smile when I come into a room- are way more important to me than say, weekly flower deliveries (although have had these, and it was pretty nice), jewelry (have also had, VERY nice), etc. The big things I like as a surprise every once in awhile, but honestly- I would rather have a quick minute phone call to make me smile during the day. It lets me know that somewhere, someone is thinking of ME!
Plus- a man that calls when he says he will is proof that he is interested!

I don't even like Mexican
This was just really random, but I couldn't get away from Mexican food yesterday. I don't really like Mexican, but my very BF wanted to go to lunch, and she picked the restaurant. So, we run on down to the little Mexican place on Zelda, which is pretty good food but horrible, horrible service. Anyhow- so I get my totally gringa food order of two chicken soft tacos with meat and cheese, and just to spice it up a bit, some of the rice... Pretty good, and once we left, I figured- Hey, there is my quota for the month. Little did I know that I would be having Mexican THAT NIGHT FOR DINNER! My dad made tacos and wanted to eat with Mere and I, and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I had already eaten tacos that day, so I ate it for lunch and dinner. Thankfully today- we are having Wings at lunch. I dont know how much more my stomach could take!

Don't get me wrong...
I love my technology. I don't think I could live without my Razr, my iPod, my computers (yes, that is plural), TiVo, and my television, but some things are just ridiculous. See here. A big TV instead of a diamond necklace? A digital camera over some Jimmy Choo's? Bleepin' craziness. Diamond's are still this girl's best friend, and if anyone wants to get rid of theirs, please- let me know! What does everyone think about this? I think this survey is a little off.

Babysitters
Ranting post- please beware.
I have had plans to go to Birmingham tonight, and stay, because a good friend of mines' boyfriend wanted to have his birthday party up there. He just got a job offer out of state, and I dont know what he is going to do- either move or stay here, so this could be his last outing in Alabama for awhile. My very best friend was going to watch Mere tonight, since Mere and her daughter are best friends, and I totally trust this family. Unfortunately, Friend called this morning with news that she would not be able to watch Mere, and this has left me in the lurch.
I am trying to find someone to watch her, but feel so uncomfortable asking someone to help, especially as this is more of a social thing- but I also really want to go... This is what I have always disliked about living here, away from all my family, so I have no one to ask other than my two standards- who are both otherwise committeed tonight.
Sorry about a rant post, I hate writing them, but need to get my frustration out somewhere.

Isn't it odd?
I was at Office Depot a little while ago, and while browsing through the ink cartridges for printers, saw a sale on the particular print cartridges that my former best friend uses. I was seriously dialing her number to tell her about it, when I figured out that we aren't speaking anymore.
Why is it that certain things remind us so much of people in our past?
This is not the first instance of something similar happening to me. For example, when a relationship went sour last year, everything I saw - from rental trucks to furniture brands reminded me of this person. It seemed that I could not get away from his name or something we had done together or talked about with each other.
Im interested in who else feels this way, so if you have any stories like this, just drop me a comment, and we can search the reasons together. (BTW- my mom tells me that it is just that our mind is more open to recognizing signs like this) Anyway, your thoughts?

Talented Blogger
My friend Gilligan has recently started a new blog on here with me, and I must say, she is a very talented writer. I always worry about someone reading my blog, and if one doesnt know me, and my way of thinking/talking, he or she might get lost. Im thinking about a mile a second, and half the time, my fingers (or mouth) can hardly catch up. I can be talking to you about one thing, and have ten different jumps in my brain activity before I finish a sentence. That is why Im always all over the place I guess. Also why Im good at my job. Anyway, Gillian has a way of speaking through her writing that flows evenly, and is not confusing. Its wonderful to read, and I just had to blog about it.
